According to Data.ai's most recent study on the state of mobile, worldwide app downloads increased 11% from year to year in 2022.
About half of the top 15 mobile-first countries were located in Southeast Asia. Pakistan shone out among them with a 35% increase in app downloads year over year.
India, one of its neighbors, came in second place among the top 20 mobile-first markets for the same metric. About 29 billion apps were downloaded by the nation's mobile users in 2022, up from 26.7 billion in 2021.
Data.ai does not include app updates or re-downloads from the same account, even if they occur on a different device, when calculating downloads.
